HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-09-03 - MINUTES - STUDY SESSION NOTES (2)City Council Study Session September 3, 2002 Call To Order: 5:32 p.m. Roll Call: All Councilmembers were present ITEM 1 COMMUNITY CENTER FEASIBILITY STUDY REPORT — Ken Pulskamp, Interim City Manager presented the Council with a brief introduction regarding the Community Center Feasibility Study Report and introduced representatives from RRM Design Group - Jaime Williams and Kyle Harris. Ms. Williams and Mr. Harris presented the Council with meeting goals; what steps have been taken to date; provisions of the Core facilities; results of the public workshop with a priority list. They presented Council with a summary matrix of the three possible Community Center sites: Anawalt, Mnnen and Ryan, along with the pros and cons of these sites. Council questions, concerns and comments included: Location of MTA parking of the Anawalt property; easement sites at Kinnen; non-availability of the front site area of the Ryan property; proximity to residential neighborhoods; site development costs; budget concerns; cost to mitigate flooding issue of Anawalt site; public perception of how soon this project will happen; the importance of timing within the communities perspective; importance of emenities; what is planned for the next 50 years; parking issues; property should have the ability to grow and expand - do not become locked in; flood study; keep original timeline; staff to review Anawalt property and return to Council with findings.
