A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA TO REMOVE A NO -STOPPING ZONE
ON THE NORTH SIDE OF SMYTH DRIVE, BETWEEN
VALENCIA HIGH SCHOOL AND COPPER HILL DRIVE
WHEREAS, Section 22507 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California provides for
local authorities to prohibit or allow stopping, standing, or parking of vehicles on certain
streets or highways, or portions thereof during certain or all hours of the day; and
WHEREAS, a request was made to remove the no -stopping zone on the north side of
Smyth Dive, between Valencia High School and Copper Hill Drive; and
WHEREAS, it is consistent with normal traffic engineering practices to remove a
no -stopping zone near the school.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita does resolve as
follows:
SECTION 1. That the existing no -stopping zone along the north side of
Smyth Drive be removed. The no -stopping zone extends 2,500 feet from the western
property line of Valencia High School to Copper Hill Drive.
SECTION 2. That the no -stopping zone shall no longer apply when the current
signs and/or curb markings giving adequate notice thereof have been removed as described
in Section 1.
SECTION 3. That staff shall remove the necessary signs and/or curb markings to
effect this resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 25th day of June, 2002.
