BRANDING STRATEGY
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Council receive design concept presentation of Branding Strategy Committee and direct
staff to proceed with development of Branding Graphic Design Guidelines.
BACKGROUND
The creation of a branding strategy for Santa Clarita is a goal from the most recent
strategic planning process. A branding strategy would help address the lack of a clear
regional identity and awareness of the Santa Clarita name and lack of guidelines for the
consistent application of a City-wide graphics/communications program.
Following the selection of a design consultant, a working group was formed to review
design alternatives. The working group was comprised of City department
representatives and communication professionals from Cal Arts, Henry Mayo Hospital,
Valencia Town Center and Borax.
After the review of over 20 design concepts, a final graphic concept was selected to serve
as the basis for a Santa Clarita Branding Strategy and development of a Logo Usage
Manual for the City.
