HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-02-11 - AGENDA REPORTS - CLASSIFICATION PLAN AMEND (2)CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT J/ City Manager Approvat CONSENT CALENDAR Item to be presented by: Ken Pulskamn DATE: February 11, 2003 SUBJECT: POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN AMENDMENT AND SALARY RESOLUTION DEPARTMENT: City Manager's Office RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council to adopt a resolution providing for the reclassification of the Assistant to the City Manager position to a grade 63 and designation of the positions of Assistant to the City Manager and Human Resources Manager as Executive Management. Since appointed in November of 2002, the City Manager has been evaluating and researching with City Council and staff, the issues facing the City of Santa Clarita, the major goals and priorities and the organization as a whole. Overall, it is clear that the City organization is functioning at a very high level - output and outcomes far surpass those at similar organizations providing municipal government services. After much consideration, the City Manager has instituted some adjustments to the organizational structure to further enhance effectiveness and focus on continued development and improvement in processes and results. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other actions as determined by Council. FISCAL IMPACT Approval of this action results in a fiscal impact of $109,410 for the remainder of the current fiscal year. The City currently has two vacant positions, Assistant City Manager and Information Technology Manager, whose combined available funding is $122,215.
