Accept Office of Domestic Preparedness State Homeland Security Grant for a total of $35,689 into account number 74420-8001 in Fiscal Year 2003-04, and increase revenue estimates for account number 109-6714 by $35,689. 2. Authorize City Manager, or designee, to execute any contract documents, change orders, or amendments arising out of this program, subject to City Attorney's approval. BACKGROUND The City of Santa Clarita has been awarded a $35,689 grant, distributed on a per capita basis, from the Office of Domestic Preparedness for the purchase of specialized equipment that will enhance the capabilities of local responders to respond to incidents of terrorism. This grant provides for the 100% reimbursement of the equipment purchases. The funds from this equipment allocation are designated to be used to acquire cabling equipment needed to support an operational area communications satellite in partnership with Los Angeles County and 11 automated external defibrillators, which will be placed in City facilities. The United States Department of Justice through the Office of the Assistant Attorney General is providing financial assistance directly to each of the states and territories through the federal Fiscal Year 2003 Part 11 State Homeland Security Grant. The California Governor's Office of Homeland Security is managing this program grant for the State. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS 1. Decline acceptance of Office of Domestic Preparedness Equipment Grant. 2. Other direction as defined by City Council. FISCAL IMPACT The total cost of this equipment program is $35,689 to be completely reimbursed by grant funds. Appropriate funds to account number 74420-8001 and increase revenue estimates for account number 109-6714 by $35,689.
