F2005 - PROJECT ACCEPTANCE DEPARTMENT: Transportation and Engineering Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council accept the completion of the Jan Heidt Metrolink Station Second Platform Passenger Amenities and Bus Shelters, Project No. F2005; direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion; and direct staff to release the 10 percent retention 35 days after the Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have been filed. BACKGROUND On March 11, 2003, City Council awarded the construction contract for the Jan Heidt Metrolink Station Second Platform Passenger Amenities and Bus Shelters, Project No. F2005, to Vido Samarzich, Inc. Vido Samarzich, Inc submitted the lowest responsive bid and the construction commenced in April 2003. The purpose of this project was to complete the installation of unfinished passenger amenities on the second platform (east side) and construction of new bus shelters consistent with the station's architectural theme, as well as the Citywide bus shelter guidelines. The architectural design and construction material for the second platform was identical to the first platform. Upon the completion of the second platform, the Southern California Regional Rail Authority will soon be using the platform for operation and accommodation of Metrolink commuters. The three bus shelters are designed and constructed consistent with the architectural theme of the station. This construction contract was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on August 29, 2003. The project was completed under the allocated budget. The total cost for construction was $344,896.50. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other action as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT The project was FTA funded through MTA and local funds. The total construction contract for the project is $344,896.50. Account Nos. F2005801, F2005205, and F2005901 for Fiscal Year 2002-2003 were used to track all construction expenditures.
