RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council approve the City's continued participation in the Los Angeles County Metropolitan
Transportation Authority Regional Pass Program, and authorize the City Manager or designee to
execute a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), subject to City Attorney Approval.
DESCRIPTION
In Los Angeles County, transit services are provided by 16 municipal bus operators. Operators
offer various fares and pass options which leads to confusion and inconvenience for transit
riders. A Regional Transit Pass (EZ Transit Pass) allows riders to transfer from one system to
another without the uncertainty of transfer payments and fare differentials. Work effort towards
such a pass started in November 2001, and was first implemented in September 2002.
On an continuing basis, participating transit systems have been working closely to develop and
refine the Regional Transit Pass program. The recommended action will continue this beneficial
program for one year.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
Other action as determined by the City Council
FISCAL IMPACT
Approval of the Regional Pass Program will have no adverse fiscal impact to the City.
