RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council approve the Agreements between the City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita

BACKGROUND
As part of the City's Fiscal Year 2003-04 budget, City Council allocated $300,000 to the Santa
Clarita Valley Committee on Aging. The City of Santa Clarita has entered into these agreements
with the Santa Clarita Valley Committee on Aging (SCVCOA) for the past eleven years.
Through these agreements $150,000 will provide the Senior Center with a broad range of
recreational, health, and wellness programs for the community's senior citizens. These programs
promote socialization, leisure activities, intergenerational activities, and the concept of life-long
learning.
The additional $150,000 will go to the Santa Clarita Valley Community on Aging to provide
transit related services and support to senior and disabled residents.
The City reviews this process annually to evaluate program effectiveness and believes this
partnership is a valuable asset for the community.
