Item to be presented by: Travis Lange
DATE: April 22, 2003
SUBJECT: TAX SHARING RESOLUTION FOR SANITATION DISTRICT
ANNEXATION NO. 334
DEPARTMENT: Planning and Building Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council adopt resolutions approving and accepting the negotiated exchange of property
tax revenues from Sanitation District Annexation No. 334.
Los Angeles County Sanitation District Nos. 26 and 32 provide wastewater treatment
services cooperatively through the Santa Clarita Valley Joint Sewerage System. To provide
wastewater treatment service to property located outside the District's service area, the
service area boundary must be expanded through the annexation process. As part of this
process, a tax -sharing resolution to provide the required funding to the Sanitation Districts is
adopted by the public agencies responsible for providing services to the subject property.
Local agencies receiving a portion of property tax from the annexing area must determine the
amount of tax revenues to be exchanged between the affected agencies. For annexation No.
334, a total of 1.1836 percent of the annual tax increment attributable to the land area
involved in the annexation will be transferred to Sanitation District No. 26. Of this total, the
City is contributing 0.1263 percent of its revenues from the annual tax increment for the
annexation area.
This annexation to the Los Angeles County Sanitation District is for the newly created
assessment area for the single-family residence located at 27921 Sand Canyon Road (APN:
2840-011-014).
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
Other actions as determined by Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
As proposed, the annexation to Sanitation District No. 26 should result in no adverse fiscal
impact to the City.
