SUBJECT: ACQUISITION OF 493 ACRES OF REAL PROPERTY
DEPARTMENT: City Manager
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council authorize the City Manager to sign all required documentation and accept the deed
to 493 acres of real property located outside of the City's eastern boundary (Assessor's Parcel
Numbers: 3210-013-033, 3210-013-043, 3210-014-025, 3210-014-027, 3210-014-028, 3210-
019-006 and 3210-019-007), subject to approval by the City Attorney.
City Council appropriate $280,000 from the Public Facilities Replacement Fund fund balance to
account 604-9501, increase estimated revenues in account 001-6810, and appropriate $280,000
to account 2100-8620 for the purchase.
A Notice of Exemption from the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act is
attached and is approved by the City Council.
BACKGROUND
On February 4, 2004 the City entered into negotiations to acquire 493 acres of real property
located outside of the City's eastern boundary (Assessor's Parcel Numbers: 3210-013-033, 3210-
013-043, 3210-014-027, 3210-014-028, 3210-019-006 and 3210-019-007).
On February 6, 2004 the Director of Planning and Building Services determined the acquisition
of the subject property is consistent with the provisions of the City of Santa Clarita General Plan
and prepared the Notice of Exemption.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
City Council may direct staff to cease the acquisition effort.
Other actions as determined by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
Appropriate the sum of $280,000 as payment in full to the Grantor. Said payment to be made
within ten (10) days of the recording of the Grant Deed. Approval of this action will leave a
remaining balance of $6.6 million in the Public Facilities Replacement fund.

This is to advise that the [X] Director of Planning and Building Services [ ] Planning Commission
City Council of the City of Santa Clarita did approve the above exemption on
February6, 2004. Review of the project by the Department ofPlanning and Building Services found
that the project is exempt from the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act.
EXEMPT STATUS: Class 13, (Section 15313) regarding the transfer of interest in land and to
preserve in existing natural condition, Class 16 (Section 15316) to conserve wild life. (City of Santa
Clarita Local Guidelines of the California Environmental Quality Act under Section 21082).
The Director of Planning and Building Services has determined the acquisition of the subject
property is consistent with the provisions of the City of Santa Clarita General Plan.
