HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-01-06 - AGENDA REPORTS - AUTO REPAIR SERVICE USES (2)CITY OF SANTA CLARITA INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM TO: r Kellar and Members of the Cit ouncil 'e(r s erger an Members the Planning Commission FROM: enneth ulskamp, i anager DATE: January 6, 2004 SUBJECT: JOINT CITY COUNCIL/PLANNING COMMISSION STUDY SESSION REGARDING AUTO REPAIR AND SERVICE USES RECOMMENDED ACTION Council discuss the City's locational criteria for auto repair and service uses then, if desired by Council, direct staff to amend the City's Unified Development Code accordingly. BACKGROUND At the April 8, 2003 City Council meeting, Councilmember McLean requested that the City Council review the locations in the City where automotive repair facilities are allowed to insure that these uses are distributed throughout the City, and that no single neighborhood has an over concentration of these facilities. The Council concurred with Councilmember McLean's request and directed staff to arrange a joint study session with the Planning Commission to discuss the issue. To facilitate the discussion, staff has conducted a citywide inventory of current auto repair and similar auto -related uses that will be presented to the Council and Commission at the study session. In addition, staff will provide information regarding the current permitting requirements and locational criteria for any future auto related uses. Finally, for comparison, staff will inform the Council and Commission of permitting and development requirements in other jurisdictions in the region. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS No alternative actions have been identified. FISCAL IMPACT The study session is for discussion only and will result in no fiscal impact. Any direction given by the City Council will be evaluated separately for any fiscal impacts. Agenda item: ATTACHMENTS No attachments.
