F0003 -AWARD CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT SERVICES CONTRACT Transportation and Engineering Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council award a construction management services contract to Jim Ament Construction in an amount not to exceed $209,580.00 for the Santa Clarita Transit Maintenance Facility, Project No. F0003; and authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all documents, subject to City Attorney approval. BACKGROUND The proposed Transit Maintenance Facility (TMF) project includes property acquisition, design, and construction of a permanent facility to accommodate the operation, maintenance, and administrative functions of the City's transit system. In its efforts to hire a construction manager for the TMF project, the City solicited and received resumes from qualified construction managers and interviewed the following top two (2) candidates: Company Location Jim Antent Construction Lancaster MNS Engineers Santa Barbara Consistent with federal guidelines, based on qualifications and management approach proposed for the project, City staff recommends that the construction management contract be awarded to Jim Ament Construction. U J _100 P Given Jim Ament's experience on similar transit maintenance facility projects, the City is confident that Jim Ament Construction will be able to oversee on-site matters and work with the contractor successfully on this project. Construction of the facility is estimated for completion by the summer of 2005. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other action as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT The proposed Transit Maintenance Facility is a federally funded transit project, with 80 percent of the construction management services cost ($167,664.00) funded by Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grants from Account No. F0003801-8001, and 20 percent ($41,916.00) to be funded by local match contributions from Account No. F0003205-8001. The construction management costs are included in the project's construction phase budget. No additional funding is required. ATTACHMENTS None.
