BACKGROUND Since 1988, various ordinances have amended Sections 2.26.080 and 2.28.090 of the Municipal Code to adjust the rate of compensation for the City's Planning Commission and Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission. Historically, since the City's incorporation in 1987, compensation for each individual member of the City's Planning Commission and Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission have been concurrently adjusted in year 1989, 1991, and 1996. At this time, staff recommends amending the Municipal Code to reflect language that enables the City Council to adjust Commission compensation rates by resolution, from time to time, as appropriate. hi the event that the Council concurs with this recommended action and passes this proposed ordinance to second reading and adoption, it is staffs intention to prepare a resolution that will allow the City Council to consider a potential adjustment in compensation for both Commissions. Staff anticipates that this recommended adjustment in compensation would ()(-Cl1,Ka0CC--26F -S-SCd 4x-'C')vt4'- re&J"I'67y reflect Consumer Price Index inflation since the City's last Commission compensation adjustment in 1996, and would be effective July 1, 2004.
