SUBJECT: ABATEMENT AND DEMOLITION SERVICES OF WAREHOUSE
AND SHED AT 22427 MARKET STREET, PROJECT NO. F2002 -
PROJECT ACCEPTANCE
DEPARTMENT: Transportation and Engineering Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council accept the demolition work performed by American Wrecking Inc., Project
No. F2002; direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion; and direct staff to
release the retention balance 35 days after the Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop
notices, as provided by law, have been filed.
BACKGROUND
The City acquired the property previously owned by Anawalt Lumber and Material Company at
22427 Market Street in 2003. The purpose of this acquisition was to construct a new Community
Center and install additional parking spaces for the Metrolink commuters at the Jan Heidt
Metrolink Station in Newhall.
On January 27, 2004, the City Council awarded a contract in the amount of $103,827.00 to
American Wrecking, Inc., and appropriated a budget of $119,401.00, which included a
15 percent contingency, for abatement and demolition services.
The service contract was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on March 31, 2004.
The project was completed under the allocated budget and construction working days. The total
cost for the service contract was $112,827.00.

Other action as determined by the City Council.
APPROVED
FISCAL IMPACT
An amount of $119,401.00 was approved and budgeted in Account No. F2002205-8001 for
Fiscal Year 2003-2004. The total cost for the service contract was $112,827.00.
