RECOMMENDED ACTION
Staff recommends the City Council receive and discuss the report.
BACKGROUND
The City Council directed staff to prepare a study session presentation on mixed use projects.
This presentation will include mixed use projects from outside the Los Angeles area and across
the nation. Staff will discuss the benefits and challenges to mixed use projects, principles of new
urbanism, methods to implement new urbanism, and case studies of mixed use projects. This
study session will also generate discussion of mixed use development in the City of Santa Clarita
for the Council to consider.
