SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA CLARITA, AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION AND PARKS,
RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION
COMPENSATION AND EXPENSES

RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council adopt an Ordinance entitled, An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Santa
Clarita, Amending the Municipal Code Relating to the Planning Commission and Parks,
Recreation and Community Services Commission Compensation and Expenses.
BACKGROUND
This action constitutes the second reading of this proposed ordinance. Since 1988, various
ordinances have amended section 2.26.080 of the Municipal Code to adjust compensation rates
of the City's Planning Commission, as well as section 2.28.090 of the Municipal Code to adjust
compensation rates of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission.
At this time, staff recommends amending the Municipal Code to reflect language that enables the
City Council to adjust Commission compensation rates by resolution, from time to time, as
appropriate. Upon second reading and adoption of the ordinance, staff will present to Council a
resolution to adjust compensation, potentially effective July 1, 2004, to reflect Consumer Price
Index inflation since the City's last Commission compensation adjustment in 1996.
