S 1001 - APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR THE RELOCATION OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA GAS COMPANY FACILITIES DEPARTMENT: Transportation and Engineering Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council appropriate $503,000 from the Valencia Bridge and Thoroughfare District Fund to the Cross Valley Connector Gap Closure project, Account No. S1001304-8001; and authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all documents, subject to City Attorney approval. BACKGROUND Funding from the developer -funded Valencia Bridge and Thoroughfare (B&T) District is needed to continue work on a portion of the City's Cross Valley Connector project, the Gap Closure. This project will extend Newhall Ranch Road from Interstate 5 to Copper Hill Drive. This improvement is a critical component of the City's circulation element and is B&T eligible. Funds in the amount of $503,000 are needed from the Valencia B&T District to begin the relocation of of Southern California Gas Company's 34 -inch high pressure gas mainline to complete the work on the Gap Closure section of Newhall Ranch Road. The Gas Company requested advance payment to pay the cost to design and relocate these facilities. This work must precede the road construction. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other action as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT The Valencia Bridge and Thoroughfare District has a cuiTent available fund balance of approximately $504,600. The appropriation to Account No. S1001304-8001 in the amount of $503,000 will reduce the available fund balance to approximately $1,600. A developer contribution is expected in an amount which is sufficient to cover increased costs of the utility relocation work. These funds will be used to reimburse the Valencia Bridge and Thoroughfare District. ATTACIIMENTS Location Map
