Call To Order: 5:35 p.m.
Roll Call: - Council: All Councilmembers were present.
Roll Call: - Parks, Recreation & Community Services Commission: Commissioners Redd, Nelson, and
Hauser were present.

ITEM 1 POLL RESULTS OF PROPERTY OWNERS' OPINIONS ON PAYING FOR
MORE PARKLAND AND OPEN SPACE — Ken Pulskamp, City Manager,
introduced Darren Hernandez, Director of Administrative Services, who stated that
pursuant to Council's direction, staff initiated action to search out methods to raise
funds for parkland and open space and introduced Josh Williams of Godbe
Research who gave a presentation outlining the results of a survey which was given
to 450 Santa Clarita property owners.
Council/Commission questions, concerns and comments included questions on
the voting methodology; satisfaction of the community; survey being an
excellent tool for decision making; how participants were chosen; being very
specific on what the City is doing; acquiring open space using General Fund
dollars; being a parks and recreation provider for the entire valley; developing
specifics to bring before the Parks,
Recreation and Community Services Commission for recommendation to City
Council.
Public comment included Ruth Levison representing Sand Canyon
Homeowners; and Jim Southwell representing Placerita Nature Center.
Mayor Kellar recessed the meeting at 6:24 p.m. and reconvened at 6:28 p.m.
ITEM 2 FY 2004/05 MIDYEAR BUDGET REVIEW — Ken Pulskamp, City
Manager, introduced the item and Darren Hernandez, Director of
Administrative Services, who gave an overview of what the passage of
Proposition IA means to the City, as well as reviewing the Unmet
Priorities List and midyear budget requests.
Council questions, concerns and comments included possible funds for Henry Mayo
Newhall Memorial Hospital; sports expansion; hiring an urban designer; tourism;
and diversity programs. Funding recommendations to be brought before Council at
the December 14, 2004 Council meeting for approval.
There was no public comment on this item.
ADJOURNMENT Mayor Kellar adjourned the meeting at 6:55 p.m.
