AUTHORIZATION TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT FOR MASTER
PLANNING AND SPACE ALLOCATION OF THE CENTRAL
PARK MAINTENANCE FACILITY
Parks, Recreation & Community Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council approve and authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute an agreement with
Pitassi Architect, Inc., for the master planning of the Central Park Maintenance Facility, subject
to City Attorney approval.
BACKGROUND
As a result of the ongoing growth in the City's park system and open space areas, it is necessary
to evaluate the current space allocation for the Central Park Maintenance Facility. Currently,
there are over 50 City employees reporting to the Central Park Maintenance Facility. Stored at
this location are trucks, equipment, and supplies needed to maintain all of the City's parks, trails,
and open space areas, as well as office space for clerical and supervisory staff.
Pitassi Architect, Inc., is familiar with the site and has demonstrated the knowledge required to
facilitate a process to evaluate the current and future space allocation of staff, equipment, and the
facility. This firm was instrumental in the design of the current facilities at Central Park and will
be able to provide an expansion plan that will address future growth.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
Other action as determined by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
During the mid -year budget process, City Council approved $65,000 in Account Number
P4006001, for the purpose of the Central Park Maintenance Facility space allocation master
planning.
