S 1001 - FACILITY RELOCATION AGREEMENTS WITH
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
GAS COMPANY, AND MCI WORLD COM

RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council authorize the execution of the facility relocation agreements with Southern
California Edison in the amount of $360,600, Southern California Gas Company in the amount
of $215,000, and MCI WORLD COM in the amount of $88,500 for the Cross Valley Connector
Gap Closure, Project No. S1001; and authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all
documents, subject to City Attorney approval.
The Cross Valley Connector (CVC) Gap Closure project will extend Newhall Ranch Road from
Interstate 5 to Copper Hill Drive. It is the western -most segment of the CVC, which will provide
a direct connection between Interstate 5 and State Route 14. As part of this project, Southern
California Edison is required to relocate distribution and telecommunication lines, Southern
California Gas Company is required to relocate a security gate, and MCI WORLD COM is
required to protect in place an underground cable facility. These companies have requested
advance payment for the cost to design and relocate these facilities. This work must occur prior
to the road construction. This utility work is part of a much larger effort to relocate utilities to
locations which are consistent with this roadway project.
Previously, the City Council has authorized execution of utility relocation agreements with
Southern California Edison for relocation of electrical transmission lines, and ARCO Midcon
LLC and Pacific Pipeline Systems LLC for crude oil pipelines for this project.

FISCAL IMPACT
Proposition C funds in the amount of $6,204,000 have been appropriated to Account No.
S1001205. These funds adequately provide for the relocation costs of $360,600 for Southern
California Edison, $215,000 for Southern California Gas Company, and $88,500 for MCI
WORLD COM.
