HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-05-24 - AGENDA REPORTS - DOCKWEILER ACQUISITION (2)Agenda Item: _ CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT CONSENT CALENDAR City Manager Approval: Item to be presented by: Robert Newman DATE: May 24, 2005 SUBJECT: ACQUISITION OF 6.92 ACRES OF VACANT LAND LOCATED AT THE TERMINUS OF DOCKWEMER DRIVE - ASSESSOR'S PARCEL NO. 2833-012-019 DEPARTMENT: Building and Engineering RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all required documents to complete the acquisition of 6.92 acres of unimproved real property located at the terminus of Dockweiler Drive (APN 2833-012-019), subject to City Attorney approval; and appropriate $258,000.00 from the Via Princessa Bridge and Thoroughfare District Account No. 303-6193 to expenditure Account No. 4363-8620 for purchase, title, and escrow costs. BACKGROUND On April 27, 2005, the City entered into negotiations to purchase 6.92 acres of unimproved real property located at the western terminus of Dockweiler Drive. The proposed acquisition will assist in implementing the future alignment of the Dockweiler Drive extension. The extension of Dockweiler Drive will create a secondary east -west link through Newhall, with eventual connections that coordinate with the public enhancement of downtown Newhall. Portions of the property not necessary for the road may have enhanced investment and development potential. The purchase price of the property is $250,000.00. An additional $8,000.00 is needed for escrow fees, Phase 1 Environmental report, and issuance of a policy for title insurance. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS 1) City Council may direct staff to cease the acquisition effort. 2) Other actions as determined by the City Council. APPOOVED FISCAL IMPACT Approval of this action will leave a balance of $ $586,688.00 in the Via Princessa District Account No. 303-6193. ATTACHMENTS Location Map
