Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all documents, subject to City Attorney approval. BACKGROUND The City of Santa Clarita seeks to obtain Geographic Information System (GIS) services to create a sewer network layer containing pipe and manhole information for sewer lines within the City. This Geographic Information Systems project will be coordinated between the Engineering andTechnology Services Divisions. This project encompasses 3,000 individual sewer drawing sheets, and when complete, the City will have an accurate map, description of, and tracking method for over 500 street -miles of the Santa Clarita sewer drain system. The GIS sewer layer will provide City staff with an expedited means for determining the location of existing sewer infrastructure and associated information, such as pipe size, slope, material, depth, year built, and maintenance responsibilities. The layer will improve the service at our public counters by providing a way for staff to quickly determine if a particular property has sewer service. Maintenance issues can promptly be directed to the proper agency for resolution. The layer will be linked to digital copies of the sewer plans which can be viewed on the computer, reducing the necessity to locate hard copies of the plans. Using existing layers in GIS, staff can view and print sewer information on top of aerial photos, which is useful for customers and staff to visualize the sewer in relation to property lines and other improvements. FPRi D staff can view and print sewer information on top of aerial photos, which is useful for customers and staff to visualize the sewer in relation to property lines and other improvements. Applied Geodetics, the contractor on the project, has successfully completed similar projects for the City's GIS. The contractor has a long history of working with GIS and has demonstrated the distinct skill base in order to accomplish the necessary aspects of the project. Applied Geodetics has a unique foundation of knowledge and contacts that will allow this work to be completed in the most efficient and professional manner.
