HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-05-24 - AGENDA REPORTS - LACO FIRE CODE (2)PUBLIC HEARING DATE: SUBJECT: DEPARTMENT: Agenda Item: =i -- CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval: Item to be presented by: May 24, 2005 N) low Ruben Barrera SECOND READING OF AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY FIRE CODE Building and Engineering RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council conduct a public hearing and adopt an ordinance adopting by reference the Los Angeles County Fire Code Title 32, which includes the California Fire Code and Uniform Fire Code with certain amendments entitled, "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING BY REFERENCE TITLE 32 OF THE LOS ANGELES FIRE CODE WHICH CONSTITUTES THE 2001 EDITION OF THE CALIFORNIA FIRE CODE PUBLISHED BY THE CALIFORNIA BUILDING STANDARDS COMMISSION, INCLUDING APPENDIX I -C, APPENDIX II -C, APPENDIX II -D, AND APPENDIX VI -A, EXCLUDING ALL OTHER APPENDICES OF THE 2001 EDITION OF THE CALIFORNIA FIRE CODE, AND THE 2000 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE, PREPARED AND PUBLISHED BY THE WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION, AND AMENDING CHAPTER 22.01 OF TITLE 22 OF THE SANTA CLARITA MUNICIPAL CODE." At the April 26, 2005 City Council meeting, an ordinance was presented for first reading to adopt the most recent edition of the Los Angeles County Fire Code by reference. At that meeting, City Council moved the ordinance to second reading and public hearing as required under Government Code Section 50022.1. In accordance with Government Code Section 50022.3, public notice has been duly given and a copy of the proposed code was made available for public inspection in the City Clerk's office no less than 15 days prior to the public hearing. Adopted:- The adoption of this ordinance will ensure continued consistency in the enforcement of the Fire Code by the Los Angeles County Fire Department within the City of Santa Clarita, while continuing to protect the safety and welfare of the citizens. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS No alternative actions have been identified. FISCAL HNIPACT There is no fiscal impact by this action. The provisions of this code are already being enforced and no changes to the City budget are necessary. ATTACHMENTS Ordinance CITY OF SANTA CLARITA NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA'S ADOPTION BY REFERENCE OF THE MOST RECENT EDITION OF THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY FIRE CODE AND AMENDING CHAPTER 22.01 OF TITLE 22 OF THE SANTA CLARITA MUNICIPAL CODE PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: A Public Hearing will be held before the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita to consider adoption of Title 32 of the Los Angeles County Fire Code which constitutes the 2001 edition of the California Fire Code with certain appendices and amendments and amending Title 22 of the Santa Clarita Municipal Code. The hearing will be held by the Santa Clarita City council in the City Hall Council Chambers, 23920 Valencia Blvd., 1 st floor, on the 20 day of May, 2005, at or after 6:00 pm. Proponents, opponents, and any interested persons may appear and be heard on this matter at that time.
