HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-10-25 - AGENDA REPORTS - LOST CANYON ACQUISITION (2)CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: SUBJECT: DEPARTMENT: Agenda Item: CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT &&4 Rick Gould City Manager Approval: Item to be presented by: October 25, 2005 LOST CANYON TRAILIMAD ACQUISITION OF 1.57 ACRES IN CANYON COUNTRY - ASSESSOR PARCEL NUMBER (APN) 2840-006-009 Parks, Recreation & Community Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council appropriate $35,000 from the Park Development Fund 450 account balances into Account No.: P3013450-8620, for acquisition costs, including environmental report, title report, and title insurance policy in the amount of $2,255.00; and authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all documents to complete the acquisition of 1.57 acres in Canyon Country (Assessor Parcel Nos. 2840-006-009), subject to City Attorney approval. BACKGROUND Over the past year staff has been in contact with owners of several properties located adjacent to the proposed Lost Canyon Park in Canyon Country. Discussions have created an opportunity to purchase one parcel,. 1.57 acres, located just east of the existing terminus of the bike path at Lost Canyon Road. The parcel is vacant land bordered on the north by State Route 14 (SR -14), and the property is directly east of, and adjacent to, the proposed Lost Canyon Park properties. The proposed acquisition will assist in implementing the future development of park and trail amenities. A map showing the property site is attached. The purchase price of the property, including environmental report, title report, and title insurance policy is $35,000. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS 1) City Council may direct staff to cease the acquisition effort. 2) Other actions as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT City Council transfer funds in the amount of $35,000 from the Park Development Fund 450 account balances to Capital Project Account No.: P3013450-8620.
