HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-11-16 - MINUTES - SPECIAL MTG (2)CITY OF SANTA CLARITA MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING CITY COUNCIL JOINT MEETING WITH STATE SENATOR RUNNER NOVEMBER 16, 2005 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Smyth called the meeting to order at 8:17 a.m. in the Activities Center of the Santa Clarita Sports Complex. ROLL CALL All Councilmembers were present. FLAG SALUTE Mayor Smyth led the flag salute. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS Mayor Smyth welcomed all in attendance and acknowledged various dignitaries in attendance. ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION Dialog was exchanged between the Council, Senator Runner and appropriate staff on the following topics: • Telecommunications/Local Franchise Authority • Senate Bill 153, the California Clean Water, Safe Neighborhood Parks and Coastal Protection Act of 2006 • Open Space and Parkland Preservation District • State Legislative Update and Perspectives on 2006 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION Addressing the Council and Senator Runner at this time was Victor Lindeheim regarding Proposition 42 as a funding source for transportation; Cam Noltmeyer on Santa Claritans for Open Space and the Department of Toxic Substance Control on approval of school sites; and Mary Funk from the Southland Association of Realtors regarding the petition for Jessica's Law.
