The Valley Center Overlay Section of the Land Use Element (page L-61 Section 1) shall be amended as follows: Downtown Newhall Component "The Downtown Newhall area was once the thriving hub for activities in the Santa Clarita Valley. Over time, these activities were focused at other locations throughout the Santa Clarita Valley including the Valencia Town Center area. Recently the area is reemerging as a central core for the community. This has been spurred by the Jan Heidt Metrolink Station, the live theatre facilities and redevelopment improvements. The area, which consists of the San Fernando Road corridor from Pine Street to 13`h Street, should promote increased densities to more effectively utilize the rail system to the urban hubs of Los Angeles. In the area, mixed use projects with shared parking and densities up to 3:1 should be promoted and encouraged with appropriate environmental review." b. The Land Use Map shall be amended to include the area adjacent to San Fernando Road from Pine Street to 13`h Street as part of the Valley Center Overlay as above. SECTION 4.
