BACKGROUND
The City is currently undertaking several organizational priorities such as the One Valley, One
Vision Project that require a significant amount of professional Geographic Information System

computerized system for managing large amounts of information and is capable of assembling,
storing, manipulating, and displaying geographically referenced information according to their
locations. GIS is a very powerful technology tool that can be used for spatial analysis and
modeling, resource management, and development planning in ways such as to help emergency
planners calculate emergency response times in the event of a natural disaster.
At this time, City staff believes it is appropriate to contract for additional GIS consulting services
in order to augment existing staff and provide technical additional resources to the organization.
To this end, staff recommends that the City Council award a Professional Services Agreement to
DM Geographics LLC for professional GIS consulting services, in an amount not to exceed
$85,000.
