DESIGNATION OF A VOTING DELEGATE AND AN
ALTERNATE TO THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES 2006
ANNUAL CONFERENCE
City Manager's Office
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council adopt a resolution designating Mayor ProTem Marsha McLean as the voting
delegate and Councilmember Bob Kellar as the alternate for the League of California Cities 2006
Annual Conference.
BACKGROUND
The League of California Cities Annual Conference will be held from Wednesday, September 6,
2006 through Saturday, September 9, 2006 in San Diego, California. An important part of the
Conference is the Annual Business Meeting, scheduled for Saturday, September 9. At this
meeting, the League membership takes action on conference resolutions which guide cities and
the League in its efforts to improve the quality, responsiveness and vitality of local government
in California.
The League's constitution provides that each city is entitled to one vote in matters affecting
municipal or League policy. To be eligible to vote, each city must designate a voting delegate
and an alternate who will be present at the Annual Business Meeting. The voting delegate will
pick up the city's voting card at the designated voting card desk located in the League registration
area and must be in possession of the voting card to cast a vote at the meeting.
Upon staff consultation with Mayor Weste, the Mayor recommends that Mayor Pro Tem Marsha
McLean be selected as the voting delegate and Councilmember Bob Kellar be designated as the
alternate voting delegate.

ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
Other action as determined by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
The action to designate a voting delegate and an alternate does not require any resources beyond
those already accounted for in the City's adopted FY 2006-2007 Budget.
