C2001 - PROJECT ACCEPTANCE Public Works RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council approve and accept the completion of the San Fernando Road Median Improvement, Project No. C2001; direct the City Clerk to file the Notice of Completion; approve the transfer of $30,000.00 from unallocated reserve LMD Fund 401 T-1 monies to Account No. 2915-8001; direct staff to release the remaining 10 percent retention 35 days after the Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have been filed. BACKGROUND In October 1997, Development Review No. 97-152 was approved to expand an existing self -storage property located at 25333 San Fernando Road. As a condition of the project, the applicant was required to pay the City a fee for future construction of a median along the property's frontage in lieu of the applicant installing the median. The self -storage facility has since been completed. The property has been annexed into the Landscape Maintenance District to provide for the ongoing maintenance for the median. Currently, landscaping on the median is being augmented outside of the scope of the capital project. The San Fernando Road Median Improvement project was duly advertised, but by the deadline for the receipt of bids, no bids were received. Pursuant to Public Contract Code Section 20166, staff negotiated with Security Paving Company, Inc. As a result of these negotiations, the City entered into a contract with Security Paving Company, Inc. to complete the San Fernando Road Median Improvement project. 'P'0 E Construction of the median was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on May 18, 2006, and work was completed within budget. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other action as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT During the current fiscal year, the following funds were budgeted: Account No. C2001001-8001 $310,344.00 Account No. C2001201-8001 $ 49,725.00 Account No. C2001303-8001 $ 79,000.00 Total $439,069.00 Project costs were $438,001.78, including anticipated retention payment. Supplemental landscaping costs will not exceed $30,000.00. This includes design, materials, labor, and project management. Unallocated reserve of $30,000.00 is to be transferred from LMD Fund 401 Zone T-1 to Account No. 2915-8001. ATTACHMENTS Notice of Completion
