YEAR TO BE "RECOGNITION DAY" FOR ALL FIRST CALL
RESPONDERS
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council adopt Resolution proclaiming September 11 of every year to be "Recognition Day"
for all First Call Responders.
BACKGROUND
In light of the terrorist attacks on our soil on September 11, 2001, and the integral part played by
hundreds, if not thousands, of First Call Responders who answered the call, many cities across
the nation have passed a resolution proclaiming September 11 of every year as Recognition Day
to honor First Call Responders. The City of Santa Clarita joins these cities in honoring the men
and women, including the Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters, Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
personnel, and numerous other responders, who give of their time and energy unselfishly in times
of an emergency or crisis. The City of Santa Clarita recognizes their value to the community and
is grateful for their involvement and contribution.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
Decline adoption of the Resolution.
Other action as determined by City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
None.
