Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion with the County Recorder. Direct staff to release the 10% retention 35 days after Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have been filed. BACKGROUND This project accomplished three components of improvements: play equipment renovation, a shade canopy installation, and two park sign installations. The play equipment at Santa Clarita Park and Valencia Glen Park no longer met the current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) standards for public playgrounds. The existing play equipment was replaced with new play areas (ages 2-5 years and 5-12 years), new silica sand, and colorful rubberized surfacing. During design, as part of the public participation process, City staff met with the Saugus Action Committee (SAC) and the Arts Advisory staff to receive feedback. Staff received very strong input from the SAC to retain the robot slide at Santa Clarita Park. Due to the current Americans with Disabilities Act requirements and the Consumer Product Safety Commission standards for public playgrounds, the City was required to take the robot slide out of service as a piece of play equipment. The construction included keeping the robot slide as a form of art in the park. Further, this project completed two tasks identified in the 2005 Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission Priorities: the annual playground shade program and the installation of the park monument signs. Pamplico Park play area received a large 30' x 60' colorful shade canopy and monument signs were installed at Santa Clarita and Newhall Parks as part of this project. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS No alternative action identified by staff.
