PROJECT ACCEPTANCE DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council accept work performed by Pivot Group, Inc. on the Basketball Renovation Project, Project #M2002, Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion with the County Recorder. Direct staff to release the 10% retention 35 days after Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have been filed. BACKGROUND On April 24, 2007, the City Council awarded the contract to construct basketball courts to Pivot Group, Inc. Construction commenced on June 26, 2007, and was completed September 18, 2007. In addition to paving, the contractor improved the subgrades, drainage, and added root barriers where needed. This project completed the removal and replacement of existing basketball courts at three park sites. The former asphalt -paved courts at Old Orchard, Valencia Glen, and Almendra Parks had deteriorated, were severely cracked, and no longer met current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Park Planning staff received complaints regarding the courts' condition from court users and City maintenance staff. The asphalt court paving was replaced with new concrete paving and surfaced with athletic -court acrylic coating. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS No other action identified by staff. APPROVED FISCAL IMPACT Funding has been budgeted in Account Number M2002601-516 1.001 to provide for project costs. The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the right-of-way upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as Basketball Court Renovation Project # M2002. 2. The City's address is: 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, CA 91355-2196. The general locations of said public improvement are: 23420 Alta Madera Drive; 23750 Via Gavola; and 25023 Avenida Rotella in the City of Santa Clarita, County of Los Angeles, State of California. 4. On April 24, 2007, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to: Pivot Group Inc. 150 South Glenoaks Boulevard, Burbank, California 91502. 5. Work under said contract was completed on 9/18/2007 to the satisfaction ofthe Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services, and was accepted by the City on October 9, 2007.
