BASKETBALL RENOVATION PROJECT - PROJECT NO. M2002
APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AWARD BID

RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council approve the plans and specifications for Basketball Court Renovations, Project
Nurnber M2002.
2. Award a construction contract to Pivot Group, Inc. in the amount of $179,105.60, and
authorize a 10% contingency in the amount of $17,910.56. Funds for this project have been
budgeted in Fiscal Year 2006-07 in account number M2002-001-8001.
3. Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all documents, subject to City Attorney
approval.
BACKGROUND
This project consists of removing and replacing existing basketball courts at three park sites. The
existing asphalt -paved courts at Old Orchard, Valencia Glen, and Almendra Parks have
deteriorated, are severely cracked, and no longer meet cur -rent Americans with Disabilities Act
(ADA) requirements. Parks Planning staff has received complaints regarding the courts'
condition from court users and City maintenance staff. The existing court paving will be
replaced with new concrete paving, surfaced with athletic -court acrylic coating.
