APPROVAL OF EXPENDITURES FOR PROFESSIONAL
BUILDING AND SAFETY SERVICES
Public Works
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council approve the expenditures for contractual plan review, building inspection, and
industrial waste inspection and permitting services as follows:
1. Professional building inspection services and in-house plan review services by JAS Pacific,
Inc. in the amount of $60,000 from Account No. 14100-5161.002; and
2. , Contractual industrial waste inspection and permitting services by Los Angeles County
Public Works in the amount of $72,000 from Account No. 14100-5161.001.
BACKGROUND
The City's Building and Safety Division uses contractual services to assist staff with plan reviews
and inspections of new buildings during periods of high construction activity. The City also
contracts with Los Angeles County to provide industrial waste inspections, permits, and related
services on a yearly basis.
Contractual support for plan check and inspection services helps supplement staffs effort to
respond in a timely manner to fluctuating demands for such services.
This request is for City Council to authorize expenditures for continued services from JAS
Pacific, Inc. and Los Angeles County Public Works. The funding for these contracts was
approved by the City Council as part of the the Fiscal Year 2007-08 budget. The City has
entered into open contracts with each of these vendors in accordance with the City's purchasing
policy.
APPROVED
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
Other action as determined by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for these services was previously approved and allocated by the City Council during the
adoption of the Fiscal Year 2007-08 budget. Revenue to support these contracts is generated
directly from fees collected for plan review and inspection services.
