AWARD CONTRACT FOR BUS PAINTING TR -06-07-63

RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council:
Award contract to Complete Coach Works to paint and apply City's new logo design to 59
transit vehciles, Bid No. TR -06-07-63, in an amount not to exceed $474,091, and authorize a
contingency of 10% of the award or $47,409.
2. Appropriate $521,500 from the Transit fund balance to account #12400-5161.001.
3. Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all contract documents, or modify award
in the event that issues of impossibility of performance arise, subject to City Attorney
approval.
BACKGROUND
The City's Transit Division solicited bids to paint its existing fleet to achieve the new uniform
look in support of the newly designed City logo and color scheme . The City received two (2)
bids to perform the job. Complete Coach Works from Riverside, California submitted a bid
price of $474,091, and Inland Body & Paint Center from Fontana, California submitted a bid
price of $930,001. Complete Coach Works submitted the lowest bid price and was deemed to be
the most responsive. Complete Coach Works will provide the necessary labor, material, and
equipment to remove existing paint and logos, and then paint and decal the buses with the new
color scheme and logos.

FISCAL IMPACT
Appropriate $521,500 to account #12400-5161.001 from the Transit fund balance. No general
fund dollars will be used for this procurement.
