BACKGROUND The Bus Stop Amenity Art Project is the first of many opportunities to integrate public art into the bus stop environment and is a part of the Bus Stop Improvement Project (BSIP). The BSIP is in the process of improving approximately 300 of the 438 bus stops located within the City of Santa Clarita. The commissioned artists will fabricate creative works of art that also function as bus stop shading, seating, and trash receptacles for selected bus stop locations. The creative pieces of art will be enjoyed by pedestrians, transit users, and automobile drivers, as well as improve the overall streetscape. The Purchasing Division, in partnership with the Transit Division, issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Bus Stop Amenity Art Project. Notice of the RFP was published three times. Additionally, 45 artists registered for the proposal request on the City website. Eight projects were submitted for consideration. The successful proposals were from Los Angeles, Spokane, Las Vegas, and Chaparral, New Mexico. 410VC, --"Vd W;ql -Des,jnS and 4o d?rt,+ S1 11 m 40 k bpi aArs A -J viSDl, Cowl wH-ecc. ova deU0r2;,hh Transit staff met with the Arts Advisory Council (AAC), who recommended the City move forward with the attached seven projects.
