HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-11-27 - AGENDA REPORTS - CHIPPER TRUCK PURCHASE CONTR (2)CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: SUBJECT: DEPARTMENT: Agenda Item: CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval: Item to be presented by: November 27, 2007 AWARD A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF A CHIPPER TRUCK Administrative Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council: 1) City Council award a contract to Valencia Auto Center Ford for the purchase of one medium -duty chipper truck, in an amount not to exceed $51,600, and authorize the City Manager or designee to modify the award in the event other issues of impossibility of performance arise, subject to City Attorney approval. The funds have been budgeted in FY 08 in account 14507-5201.003 in the amount of $51,600. 2) Increase expenditure account 14507-5201.003 (Urban Forestry - Vehicles) by $8,600, decrease expenditure account 14507-5201.002 (Urban Forestry - Equipment) by $6,000, and decrease expenditure account 14507-5161.001 (Contractual Services) by $2,600. BACKGROUND During the Fiscal Year 07/08 budget process, funds were approved for the purchase of a chipper truck. The Invitation to Bid was published three times, from July 29 to August 5, 2007, and was conducted in compliance with the Support of Santa Clarita Businesses program. Notifications were sent to the Chamber of Commerce, Valley Industrial Association, and 32 suppliers on file. The bid package was hand -delivered to the local auto dealers. Additionally, 20 dealers downloaded the bid package from the City's website. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other action as may be directed by City Council. FISCAL IMPACT Funds for purchase of the truck were budgeted and are available in the amount of $51,600.
