RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. City Council award a landscape maintenance contract for the south side of Golden Valley
Road from the future site of the Via Princessa connection to Sierra Highway, Riparian Site
Project No. S3016, to Stay Green, Inc. in the amount of $52,500.00.
2. Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all documents, subject to City Attorney

BACKGROUND
As part of the requirements for building Golden Valley Road Phase I (from future site of Via
Princessa to Sierra Highway), Project No. S3016, environmental mitigation measures were
placed on the project by the Department of Fish and Game. The environmental permit stated 1.12
acres of a drainage area jurisdictional to the Department of Fish and Game was impacted and was
required to be mitigated. The mitigation included revegetating 3.36 acres in the area on the south
side of Golden Valley Road from the future site of Via Princessa to Sierra Highway with native
trees and ground cover. Additionally, the mitigation site must be successful and "exotic free" for
five years before the Department of Fish and Game will recognize it as compensatory
replacement habitat.
This step is necessary for the final closeout of the project. The landscape maintenance contract
will supplement earlier mitigation efforts and will satisfy the Department of Fish and Game
permit requirements.
A request for quotes was sent to three landscape maintenance companies in June 2006. The
following quotes were submitted to the City:

Oakridge Landscape, Inc. North Hills, CA $53,760.00

The lowest responsive quote was submitted by Stay Green, Inc. for $52,500.00. Stay Green, Inc.
