(LIGHT EMITTING DIODE) TRAFFIC SIGNAL DISPLAYS - PROJECT ACCEPTANCE Public Works RECOMMENDED ACTION 1. City Council accept the work performed by Metro Parking & Traffic Systems, Inc. for the Installation of L.E.D. (Light Emitting Diode) Traffic Signal Displays, Project No. M0002. 2. Direct the City Clerk to file the Notice of Completion. 3. 'Direct staff to release the 10 percent retention 35 days after the Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices have been filed, as provided by law. BACKGROUND In 2002, the California Energy Commission adopted standards for vehicular traffic signal lamps and modules, and added standards for pedestrian lamps in 2004. The state mandate now requires that traffic signals statewide be energy efficient by utilizing Light Emitting Diode (L.E.D.) technology. This project replaced incandescent traffic signal lamps with the energy efficient L.E.D. technology throughout the City. This is the first year of the five-year program, which will replace all signal lamps at the 167 traffic signals throughout the City. On March 27, 2007, the City Council awarded the construction contract in the amount of $184,040.75 to Metro Parking & Traffic Systems, Inc. The construction contract was completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of the Director of Public Works. APPROVED ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other action as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT Adequate funding was budgeted for this project in Account Nos. M0061001-8001 and M0061356-8001. ATTACHMENTS Notice of Completion
