SUBJECT: AWARD CONTRACT FOR LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE
DISTRICT ZONE T-47 (NORTHPARK) FENCES
DEPARTMENT: Administrative Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. City Council approve plans and specifications, and award the construction contract for the
NorthPark Project No. Ml010401, to Draper Construction, in the amount of $158,897, and
approve a contingency amount of 10% or $15,890, for a total of $174,787.
2. City Council authorize the re -appropriation of the $170,000 FY 2006-2007 Northpark fence
funds to FY 2007-2008 into account M1010401-8001, and appropriate an additional $4,787
from the Landscape Maintenance District Zone T-47 fund balance to the same account fora
total appropriation of $174,787.
3. Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all documents, subject to City
Attorney approval.
BACKGROUND
This project includes the replacement of all existing fences within the NorthPark Landscape
Maintenance District (LMD) Zone T-47. Approximately 4,054 linear feet of three -rail white
wood ranch fencing will be replaced with three -rail white vinyl ranch fencing. Additionally, in
monumented areas, approximately 875 linear feet of decorative, pressure -treated pine, sealed and
painted white, will be installed.
The Invitation to Bid was published three times, from May 16 to May 23, 2007. Notifications
were sent to the appropriate trade journals, Chamber of Commerce, and Valencia Industrial
Association (VIA). Additionally, 33 firms downloaded the bid package from the City's website.
APPROVED
Two contractors submitted a response opened by Purchasing on June 11, 2007, and the results of
the bids follow:

A review of the bid from Draper Construction was conducted and found to be responsive.
Draper Construction possesses a State Contractor's License and is in good standing with the
State Contractor's License Board,
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
1. Reject all bids, and rebid the project.
2. Other action as determined by the City Council
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $170,000 are available in account M1010401-8001 for FY 2006-2007.
This request is to re -appropriate this amount to the same account in FY 2007-2008. An
additional $4,787 appropriation to M1010401-8001 from LMD Fund Balance is necessary to
complete this project.
