SUBJECT: SANTA CLARITA VALLEY COMMITTEE ON AGING
AGREEMENTS
DEPARTMENT: Administrative Services
City Council approve an agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the
City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Valley Committee on Aging in the total amount of
$300,000, and authorize the City Manager or designee to execute contracts and any subsequent
renewals, or modify the award in the event that issues of impossibility of performance arise,
subject to City Attorney review.
BACKGROUND
As part of the City's Fiscal Year 07-08 budget, City Council allocated $598,000 to the Santa
Clarita Committee on Aging for senior services administered by the Santa Clarita Valley
Committee on Aging. This includes:
• $150,000 for senior transit -related support services
• $150,000 for recreational wellness programs for seniors
• $48,000 for the Senior Access program for seniors who may be looking for housing or who
may have trouble filling out foams to obtain housing
• $200,000 for the Handy Worker program, which provides free repair work to seniors' homes
• $50,000 in additional transit subsidies for the Committee on Aging's discounted transit ticket
program
The action requested herein is for the City Council to approve an agreement and a Memorandum
of Understanding related to $150,000 for senior transit -related services and $150,000 for senior
recreational wellness programs.

FISCAL HYTACT
Funds for this expenditure, in the amount of $300,000, have been budgeted in Account Numbers
2100-8110 ($150,000) and 7100-8001 ($150,000).
