All Commissioners were present. All Commissioners were present with the exception of Commissioners Hauser and Nelson. Mayor McLean led the flag salute. ITEM 1 AMGEN TOUR OF CALIFORNIA - Ken Pulskamp, City Manager, introduced the item and commented how proud he is with staff as he asked staff to submit an application for the Amgen Tour after the application deadline had passed. Rick Gould, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director, gave an informative presentation in anticipation of the upcoming pivotal Stage Six of the Amgen Tour of California which will be held in Santa Clarita on Saturday, February 24, 2007. Council / Planning Commission / Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission questions, concerns and comments included kudos to staff on a remarkable job in applying and preparing for the Amgen Tour. There were no requests to speak on this item. ITEM 2 FISCAL YEAR 2007-2008 BUDGET —Ken Pulskamp, City Manager, introduced the item and gave a synopsis of the budget theme for FY 2007/2008. Council / Planning Commission / Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission questions, concerns and comments included: Completion of the Sand Canyon Trail; annexation outreach; Whitaker/ Bermite clean-up; continuance of the Community Court Program; increase in cost for Sheriff services; a strong Street Overlay Program; expansion of Cultural Arts Programs; keeping up with graffiti abatement; the possible addition of Community Centers for youth as well as Senior Centers; and the need for additional maintenance of some of the older bike trails. Public comment was received by Mike Levison regarding Sand Canyon Trail; Cam Noltemeyer regarding the Sand Canyon Trail and the Slurry Seal Program throughout the City; and Dana Martin regarding the Sand Canyon Trail.
