RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. City Council accept UC Berkeley Traffic Safety Center/Office of Traffic Safety's 2009 Next
Generation — Click It -or -Ticket Mini -Grant in the amount of $31,990.
2. Increase estimated revenues in Account 259-4461.007 by $31,990 in Fiscal Year 2008-09.
3. Increase estimated expenditures in OTS Mini Grant Account 16105-5161.001 by $31,990.
4. Authorize City Manager, or designee, to execute any contract documents, change orders, or
amendments arising out of this program, subject to City Attorney approval.
BACKGROUND
The City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriffs Station have been awarded a
grant in the amount of $31,990 from the UC Berkeley Traffic Safety Center (TSC), which is
administering the 2009 Next Generation — Click It -or -Ticket Mini -Grant Program funds from the
California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). Grant funds will be used to conduct two seat belt
enforcement mobilizations and increase the number of seat belt enforcement hours during the
grant period between October 1, 2008, and September 30, 2009.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
1. Decline UC Berkeley Traffic Safety Center/Office of Traffic Safety Mini -Grant.
2. Other direction as determined by City Council.

The total cost of this program is $31,990, to be offset completely by grant funds.
