City Council accept the work performed by Fleming Environmental, Inc. - Project M0060 for Canyon Country Park Playground Upgrade's. 2. Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion. 3. Direct staff to release the ten percent retention 35 days after Notice of Completion is recorded, provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have been filed. BACKGROUND On April 22, 2008, the City Council awarded the contract to remove and replace the existing playground structure, swings, and bid alternates at Canyon Country Park to Fleming Environmental, Inc. Construction commenced on August 11, 2008, and was completed on October 14, 2008, on time and within budget. In addition to replacing the play equipment, the contractor installed fencing, concrete paving, and park furniture. The former play equipment no longer met current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. A large portion of the playground sand was replaced with new resilient surfacing over concrete paving to meet current ADA accessibility standards, and new sand was installed in remaining areas. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS No other action identified by staff. APPROVED. FISCAL IMPACT Funding for this project is budgeted in Account M0060061-5161.001. The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the right-of-way upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as Playground Upgrades — Canyon Country Park — Project M0060 2. The City's address is 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, California 91355-2196. 3. The general location of said public improvements is 17615 West Soledad Canyon Road, Santa Clarita, California. 4. On May 13, 2008, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to Fleming Environmental, Inc. Work under said contract was completed on October 14, 2008 to the satisfaction of the City Engineer, and was accepted by the City on October 15 2008. Sharon L.
