HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-08-26 - AGENDA REPORTS - MCBEAN PKWY PASEO BRIDGE MAINT (2)CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: SUBJECT: DEPARTMENT: Agenda Item: 3 CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval: Item to be presented by: August 26, 2008 A& Curtis Nay MCBEAN PARKWAY, GOLDCREST DRIVE, AND JOHN RUSSELL DRIVE PASEO BRIDGES MAINTENANCE Public Works RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council authorize a service request and a purchase order with the County of Los Angeles Public Works Department; and authorize the transfer of additional funds in the amount of $95,369.00 from the Landscape Maintenance District Fund Balance into project Account M0067357-5161.001. BACKGROUND The City's Landscape Maintenance Districts is responsible for the maintenance of 30 paseo bridges and under crossings over and under public streets. The McBean Parkway paseo bridge between Del Monte Drive and Arroyo Park Drive needs replacement of three beams. The John Russell Drive paseo bridge between Cortina Drive and Via Candice Drive needs replacement of all beams and recaulking of all expansion and construction joints. The Goldcrest Drive paseo bridge between Del Monte Drive and Marsala Drive needs a beam replaced and installation of a drain line. In addition, other miscellaneous maintenance items will be performed on all three bridges. Staff is requesting to enter into a service contract under the existing County of Los Angeles Service Agreement to conduct the necessary maintenance work on these bridges. The cost for County services, materials, and a ten percent contingency totals $295,369.00. The required maintenance will preserve the bridges in good service condition. If approved, the work would begin late fall 2008. City staff will notify local schools and homeowners associations of the proposed maintenance work and schedule. APPROVED ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other actions as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT Funds for this expenditure in the amount of $200,000.00 have been budgeted in Account M0067357-5161.001. An additional appropriation is requested in the amount of $95,369.00 from the Landscape Maintenance District Fund Balance of Zone T-7 for $47,684.50 and Zone T-8 for $47,684.50 for a total of $295,369.00.
