BACKGROUND During the FY 08/09 budget process, the City Council approved the purchase of nine light-duty trucks. The Invitation to Bid was published three times, from July 13 to 20, 2008, and was conducted in compliance with the Support of Santa Clarita Businesses program. Bid packages were supplied to eleven local dealers, and notifications were sent to the Chamber of Commerce, Valley Industrial Association, and 46 suppliers on file. Additionally, 49 dealers downloaded the bid package from the City's website. The following bid responses were opened by Purchasing on August 21, 2008: Vendor Location wel Theodore Robins Ford Costa Mesa, CA $238,174.25 APPROVE1 Burch Ford Santa Monica Ford Raceway Ford Wondries Ford Parkway GMC Reynolds Buick/GMC Sopp Truck Center Lake Chevrolet HW Hunter Dodge Frontier Toyota Frontier Ford Power Ford Paradise Chevrolet La Habra, CA Santa Monica, CA Riverside, CA Alhambra, CA Santa Clarita, CA Covina, CA Huntington Park, CA Lake Elsinore, CA Lancaster, CA Santa Clarita, CA Santa Clara, CA Santa Clarita, CA Ventura, CA $244,248.81 $247,013.51 $247,454.09 $258,296.41 $269,598.79 $280,489.00 $284,772.19 $290,279.95 $200,529.53 (partial bid) $213,845.71 (partial bid) $223,103.25 (partial bid) $261,210.25 (partial bid) No Bid In reviewing the vehicle bid breakdowns, Parkway GMC met the criteria for the support of Santa Clarita businesses for one vehicle and was offered the opportunity to match the low bid for award. The situation on that sole vehicle would have resulted in a net loss to the dealer, and they reluctantly declined to match the low bid. The bid submission from Theodore Robins Ford met all essential bid requirements and is determined to be the lowest responsible, responsive bidder. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other action as determined by City Council.
