HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-01-08 - AGENDA REPORTS - PASEO BRIDGE MAINT LMD T-7 (2)CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: SUBJECT: DEPARTMENT: Agenda Item: CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval: Item to be presented by: January 8, 2008 PASEO BRIDGE MAINTENANCE - CARRIZO BRIDGE (LMD ZONE T-7) Administrative Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council authorize City Manager or designee to execute contracts and associated documents, or modify the award in the event of an issue of impossibility of performance arises, execute renewals in accordance with the terms of the existing County of Los Angeles Service Agreement subject to City Attorney approval. BACKGROUND The City's Landscape Maintenance Districts (LMD) are responsible for the maintenance of 30 paseo bridges and under crossings. Decay has been identified on the Carrizo bridge (see attachment) and therefore requires significant maintenance. The bridge has temporary supports but is still deemed safe for pedestrians. This is a request to enter into a contract under the existing County of Los Angeles Service Agreement to conduct the necessary maintenance on this bridge. The cost for County service, materials, and a ten percent contingency totals $88,550. Upon completion of the bridge maintenance, existing temporary supports will be removed. The maintenance will make the bridge structurally protected for at least the next 15 years. If approved, the work would begin in early spring 2008. Staff would also notify local schools and homeowner associations and provide them with a service schedule for this bridge. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other actions as desired by the City Council.
