HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-09-23 - AGENDA REPORTS - PROPERTY PURCHASE 34 ACRES (2)Agenda Item: 74 CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT CONSENT CALENDAR City Manager Approval: Item to be presented by: Barbara Stoll DATE: September 23, 2008 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF REAL PROPERTY PURCHASE OF 34 ACRES FROM LOS ANGELES COUNTY TREASURER AND TAX COLLECTOR, ASSESSOR'S PARCEL NO. 2836-012-025. 2008C SEALED BID SALE ITEM NO, 00113 DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council approve the acquisition of 34 acres and purchase price of $1,010.60 for Sealed Bid 2008C Item #00113, Agreement to Purchase from the County of Los Angeles Department of the Treasurer and Tax Collector APN 2836-012-025; approve transfer of $1,010.60 from account 19300 5401.001 to account number 14502 5201.004, and authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all documents, subject to City Attorney approval. BACKGROUND Pursuant to the provisions of the Los Angeles County Revenue and Taxation Code, tax defaulted properties may be sold through a sealed bid process. The subject property is undeveloped open space located in the Circle J Ranch area. The City owns the adjacent open space property, and was notified by the County of the opportunity to participate in the sealed bid process. The property has been subject to several tax defaulted proceedings. Staff determined that purchasing the subject parcel is consistent open space policy and may enhance opportunities for trail connections. Sealed bid application for $1,000.00 was submitted and approved on September 11, 2008. Additional fees of $10.60 bring the total acquisition cost to $1010.60. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other action as determined by the City Council. APPROVED FISCAL IMPACT Funds in the amount of $1,010.60 will be transferred from City Council contingency account number 19300 5401.001 to expenditure account number 14502 5201.004.
