CITY COUNCIL
MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING
4:30 P.M.
APRIL 22, 2008
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Kellar called to order the special meeting of the City Council at 4:30 p.m.
ROLL CALL
All Councilmembers were present.
FLAG SALUTE
Councilmember Boydston led the flag salute.
ITEM 1
NEW BUSINESS
SPECIAL PRESENTATION
Ken Pulskamp, City Manager, made comments and presented a plaque to Councilmember Boydston
for his contribution on the Council and to the City, followed by comments from each
Councilmember.
Councilmember Boydston expressed his thanks to the Councilmembers, to many members of the
community and City staff for their assistance and support during his tenure on the Council.
The following representatives made presentations to Councilmember Boydston: Jackie Bick
representing Senator George Runner; Patty Kelly representing Senator Tom McClintock; Jarrod
DeGonia representing Assemblymember Cameron Smyth; Rosalind Wayman representing
Supervisor Mike Antonovich; David Gauny representing SCV Smart Growth; Alan Ferdman
representing Canyon Country Advisory Committee; Sherry Klahs representing Santa Clarita Master
Chorale; Murray Siegel representing Arts Advisory Committee; Jim Blazer representing Santa
Clarita Symphony; Annette Lucas representing California Corridor Coalition.
The following members of the public spoke and/or made presentations to Councilmember Boydston:
Linda Jones; Duane Harte; Anthony Newhall; Reena Newhall; Allan Cameron; Henry Schultz; Bruce
McFarland; Barbara McElmeel; Cam Noltemeyer; and Sterling King.
Councilmember Boydston left the dais at this time.
RECESS AND RECONVENE
Mayor Kellar called a recess at 5:30 p.m. and reconvened the meeting at 5:36 p.m..
ITEM 2
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
DECLARING RESULTS OF APRIL 8, 2008 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
Sharon Dawson, City Clerk, reported that in accordance with Elections Code Sections 10262 and
10263, upon completion of the canvass, the elections official (City Clerk) shall certify the results to
the governing body (City Council). The City Council shall meet at its usual place of meeting no later
than the third Friday after the election, to declare the results and to install the newly elected officers.
Motion by Weste, second by Ferry, to adopt Resolution No. 08-31 reciting the fact of
the ,General Municipal Election held on April 8, 2008, declaring the result and such
other matters .as provided by law.
On roll call vote:
Ayes: Weste, Ferry, McLean, Kellar
Noes: None
Absent: None
Motion carried.
CITY CLERK ADMINISTERS OATH OF OFFICE TO NEWLY ELECTED CITY
•COUNCILMEMBERS
Sharon Dawson, City Clerk, administered the oath of office to -newly elected Councilmembers Ender
and Kellar.
NEWLY ELECTED CITY COUNCILMEMBERS ARE SEATED
Councilmember Ender and Mayor Kellar took their seats on the dais.
REMARKS BY NEWLY ELECTED CITY COUNCILMEMBERS
Councilmember Ender and Mayor Kellar thanked many who supported and assisted them during
their campaigns and expressed their intent for their term in office.
COUNCIL -COMMENTS
Councilmembers made comments to welcome Councilmember Ender and Mayor Kellar,
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
Addressing the Council at this time was Sabrina Utter in support of Councilmember Ender.
ADJOURN
Mayor Kellar adjourned the meeting at 5:57 p.m.
