City Council accept the State of California Bicycle Transportation Account (BTA) grant in the amount of $141,723. 2. Increase Revenue Account 259-4621.001 and appropriate to Expenditure Account T 1011259-5161.001. 3. Transfer project savings in the amount of $15,749 from Expenditure Account C0029230-5161.001 to Expenditure Account T1011230-5161.001. 4. Authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all documents, subject to City Attorney approval. BACKGROUND The City has received its first State of California Bicycle Transportation Account (BTA) grant. With the recent adoption of the non -motorized plan by the Council, the project which is in Fiscal Year 2008-09 will improve bicycle facilities in the Industrial Center. The BTA grant provides state funds for City and County projects that improve safety and convenience for bicycle commuters. During the last BTA grant cycle, Santa Clarita was only one of three projects that received funding in Los Angeles County. Acceptance of the BTA grant requires a minimum 10 percent in matching local funds. Aprr G10�[�D The City's BTA application was submitted for the Industrial Center Bike Lane Signing and Striping, Project T1011 to restripe the following three streets with bike lanes: • Vanderbilt Way from Avenue Stanford to Newhall Ranch Road • Avenue Stanford from Vanderbilt Way to Avenue Scott • Avenue Scott from Rye Canyon Road, connecting to the existing bike lanes at Avenue Rockefeller Providing bicycle facilities in the Valencia industrial area will promote bicycle commuting among local workers. This project is one of many projects identified in the City's Non -Motorized Transportation Plan. No additional right-of-way is required for this project. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other action as determined by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT The estimated total project cost is $157,472. The BTA grant covers approximately 90 percent of the total cost of the project for total grant funds of $141,723. The grant requires a local match of $15,749. These funds are available from project savings in Expenditure Account C0029230-5161.001. The requested appropriation of grant funds into T1011259-5161.001 and the transfer of required match funds to T1001230-5161.001 will fully fund the project. ATTACHMENTS None. 0
